Berenyi Railway Success Stories
NUCOR STEEL, a world leader in steel making, contracted Berenyi Railway group to facilitate the design and construction of their yard rail system during their new plant facility in Huger, South Carolina. NUCOR’s facility spawned many new companies associated with the steel industry to build facilities near the NUCOR plant. As the “NUCOR Campus” grew other rail work was performed by Berenyi to develop new rail spurs to many new facilities. These include: Ryerson, Feralloy, JM Steel, and others.
South Carolina Public Rail has selected Berenyi Railway group as their contractor of choice to rehabilitate miles of railroad at the Charleston Navy Yard. This rehabilitation will allow larger and heavier loads to pass into the Port of Charleston. Berenyi Railway is also working with SCPR to inspect all of the railroads bridges. This inspection is in response to a new Federal Railway Administration mandate that all such structures are to be inspected and rated for railroad use.
CMMC, owns and operates a large portion of what used to be the Charleston Naval Shipyard. This area is one of the few locations in the Low Country that can berth large ships, making the piers at the shipyard useful in delivery of large, heavy cargo. One of the main piers, Pier J, has railway service to the end of the pier. Per new Federal Railway Administration mandates this elevated track and its support structure must be load rated by summer of 2012. CMMC choose Berenyi Railway to perform this review and certification.
