Nucor Steel Berkeley DRI handling and Storage System

Nucor Steel uses DRI material as an additive in the steel making process. In several phases Berenyi helped Nucor create a facility to efficiently and safely handle the material.
First, a simple shelter was designed by Berenyi to keep the material (which has a volatile reaction to water) dry.
Second, the original shelter was reinforced to carry new loads from a mechanical transport system used to offload and transport the material to the shelter.
Lastly, Berenyi was on site to erect the system and to perform construction management services.
